Step 8: Game Day = Action

Perfecting your Performance In Your Life and Business Forever!

Last month I shared the seventh step in the Perfect Performance Success System with you, Teamwork.

This month we are focusing on Step 8: Game Day.

The most consistent attribute of all high achievers is that they take action.  Massive action.

Step 8, Game Day, is the execution stage. This is the process of moving towards and accomplishing success.

In 2007, Tiger Woods won his 13th Major Golf Championship and has won over 61 PGA Tour events-all of this in only 11 years on the tour. His accomplishments are becoming expected and if he keeps up this pace of achievement, he will obliterate any and all of the records held in golf.

What most people overlook is the effort he puts into his game off the course. He puts an incredible amount of hours into refining his swing and practicing his short game.

In 1998 and then again in 2003-2004, Tiger revamped his golf swing. The key to these revisions was to ensure longevity due to the repetitive stress caused by his aggressive swing.  What's great about this is that his performance dropped but it didn't faze him one bit.

He understood that in order to move forward and improve for the long term, he might have an initial and short-term decrease in performance. He pressed on and committed to doing the work necessary to get the job done. He committed to mastering a new swing so that he could perform next year and 20 years down the road.

What we saw was remarkable. He came back with a vengeance and regained his number one ranking within months. The key to these remarkable feats is that he has been a man of action most of his life.

Don't mistake just going through the motions and doing something with accomplishment and achievement. Action must have an intended outcome. Map your desired outcomes and then put action behind those goals
