Success - The Masters...
I'm still here in St. Petersburg Russia and I have to tell you that
this is such an amazing place! Aside from the fact that it's colder
than @#$%@ here, this city is filled with so much history, beautiful
architecture, friendly and open people, and there are so many Masters
here.
Today I'm talking about the arts...from the performing arts such as ballet and the symphony to the works of art found in the many museums. I had a chance to visit the State Hermitage Museum today. What a treat...WOW...Was it spectacular! It's one of the largest Art Museums in the world. With over 3,000,000 pieces of art! That's right 3 Million pieces of art! If you spent one minute in front of every single piece of work and did not take a break...It would take you 5 years and 8 in half months to get through it all! CRAZY! Some of the more well know Masters in the Hermitage's Collection include: Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Rubens, van Dyck, Rembrandt, Poussin, Claude Lorrain, Watteau, Tiepolo, Canaletto, Canova, Rodin, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, Cézanne, van Gogh, Gauguin, Picasso, and Matisse! Van Gogh's - The Bush This painting alone is remarkable...stand close and you can see each brush mark...Stand from afar and you see this amazing picture of a bush! In and off itself that one stroke does not do a thing...but add it together with all the others and you create a beautiful image...what a great example of synergy! And if that wasn't enough the Winter Palace is exceptional...it is truly exquisite! So beautiful and ornate with so much attention to detail within each room, decoration, base board and molding. Truly a masterpiece in and of itself...The architect and the builders showed true mastery in the design and build of this structure as well! So what does it take to become a master? As I've been sharing over the last few posts, Mastery takes time... All mastery starts in your head... Your thoughts are necessary for laying the foundation for the work that is required to develop the skills necessary to perform each movement without effort...with such coordination and synchronization that you make it look easy! Make now mistake about it the same principles used to develp physical skills are the exact same for developing the mental skills. It's through focused repetition of a particular activity that we gain the ability and competence to perform that activity with ease! Good technique comes from the proper use of your tools. It's a fundamental part of your ultimate performance. Through repetition, technique becomes foundational to developing great skill. And skill repeated consistently creates capability. And it's this ability that is used to help facilitate creating your ultimate outcome. So what do you need to do? Go out and find an expert in the field you are interested in and study their processes. Find out what they do on a daily basis and then recreate those patterns and habits in your life. And if you can get them to critique you and provide feedback then that will accelerate your progress even further! Then you just need to go "put in the miles"...day in and day out you need to devote time to perfecting that activity! So now you know what it takes to master an activity...easy huh? Remember… Ps.
