The road to Success does not have to be a lonely one!

Coach Tim Adams with www.makingbestbetter.com I just got back from doing some work with a client of mine in St. Petersburg Russia.

What an amazing place! Besides being colder than you know what…I loved it! The last time I was there was in 1986. It was still the cold war and even though I was playing hockey we had to be escorted everywhere!

Let me tell you, it has completely changed. Not only has capitalism emerged, but there is a freedom that wasn’t there before. It’s amazing to see the transformation!

The people were great, the museums were great, and the city is vibrant!

I had the good fortune of meeting an amazing Sambo coach there named Alex Barakov. Let me tell you, he is salt of the earth and a master at what he does!

Although he has been coaching Sambo for the last 40 years he is so much more than a Sambo coach. He is like a father to his students. He takes them under his wing and he teaches them about life. He instills a sense of pride in who they are and what they are doing. He teaches them that there is so much more to life than Sambo.

That there is so much more to life than work. And that deep within all of us lies a power greater than us all and that power needs to be respected and honored. That connecting with others, relationships and fostering this spiritual awareness are key components to success!

So yes he is a coach, a father figure, a teacher, a master and yet he is so much more than that….He is a mentor.

You see if you want to ensure success in any endeavor you need to learn from the best. And you need to have constant feedback as to how you are progressing. That’s what coaching and mentorship is all about! The cost associated with hiring a coach or mentor is nominal when you consider the end results.

But don’t get me wrong. If you do not do your due diligence you could end up going down the wrong path not only wasting money but developing bad habits that will be so much harder to break in the future.

So why would you put yourself through that?

That’s why I am a big fan of learning from the very best! If you are going to learn a new skill or you are interested in creating success in a specific area you should seek out someone who can take you there not only as effectively as possible but as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The best athletes and teams have coaching staffs that keep them on the right track! There is no question that you can achieve success on your own…But the valuable wisdom you gain from people who are already accomplished in a given endeavor can help reduce the possibility of failure especially when you learn about the mistakes they have made and how they dealt with these setbacks. Not only can you avoid making the same mistakes they made, you can accelerate your growth and learning exponentially!

Emulating the thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, techniques and actions of successful individuals is a major secret to success.
