The Ultimate Travel Workout

The Ultimate Travel Workout


Objective: When you don’t have a lot of time…you can use your whole body to get a great workout.  Regardless of whether you are on the road, can’t get to the gym, working 15 hour days, or just don’t have the time.  This workout uses specific movements and your bodyweight to provide resistance for an ultimate workout.

Bodyweight Workout:
The Ultimate Travel Workout Intro...After going through this workout you will never have an excuse for not doing a workout while you are on the road again!

The great thing about this workout is that you can use constant movements to elicit a variety of metabolic responses.  Because this workout uses your whole body it helps increase the blood flow through your body, your core temperature, your cellular metabolism and the neural drive to your tissue…it also helps improve your flexibility.  

So here are the exercises:

1.     Mountain Climbers – Start in a push-up position.  Bring your right knee towards your chest allowing your foot to touch the ground.  Alternate this movement and continue without stopping.

2.    Toe Touch - lie on back and with your legs straight in the air.  Crunch your shoulders up off the ground and touch your toes.

3.    Wide Position Push-up – Start in push-up position with your hands wider than shoulder width apart.  Lower yourself so that your whole body moves as one unit.  Your shoulders, hips and knees all stay in line.  Touch your chest to the ground and then come back up.

4.    4 Way Plank - with Single Leg movement - prone, both sides, and reverse

5.    Around the World Lunge - Step out in front of you, return to the start position. Step out at a 45deg angle, to the side, at a 45 deg angle to the rear, straight back, at a 45 deg angle to the opposite side, to the side and then back to the front.

6.    L-overs - Lie on your back and with feet straight in the air.  Lower legs from one side to the other

7.    Burpee - Squat, Thrust to a Push-up position, Push-up, 1 Arm Row, Come back to Deep Squat, Dead lift, Clean, Press, and repeat...

8.    Alternating Front lunge - step out far enough with your front foot so your foot is in front of your knee and lower yourself so that your thigh is parallel to the ground.  Step forward and through with your other leg to repeat the process.


The Workout
Do 1-5 sets of 10-20 reps with no rest between exercises.  Go from one exercise to the other and when you are finished with the last one you can start over at the beginning – work to make it through this series at least 3 times!
